Going green with blue energy

When fresh river water mixes with salty sea water.

In this article, we discuss the state of research into generating osmotic or blue energy, using processes at play in the mixing of salt and fresh water. Among other things, we look at the development of membranes used for this purpose and the results of the REDstack power plant at the Afsluitdijk, which harnesses Wadden Sea and IJsselmeer water.
